Communication

Communication in space is ultimately governed by the laws of physics, namely the speed of light. However "comm-portals" can be used to send messages and communicate over vast distances in real time. These portals can be unstable.

Communication between crew at close to medium range works via a removable comm implant (like, airpods but 400 years cooler). Over long range, communication can occur via the comm system onboard a ship that acts as a signal booster. However, there are various technologies with the capability to disrupt or jam communication channels, or listen in.
